Kurt Billings, Pastor
Pastor Kurt began his ministry at St. James in September of 2001. Kurt and his wife, Lori, have two children, Andrew and Emily.
Pastor Kurt grew up in a small town in central Minnesota, where the “woman are strong, the men are good looking, and the children are above average.” He graduated from Augustana College, in Sioux Falls, S. D., received his Master of Divinity degree from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, N.J. Pastor Kurt likes to read, cook and travel. He has led numerous trips to New York City, working with Trinity Lower East Side Parish, and also trips abroad including a recent trip to Ireland.
Peter Narum, Pastor
Peter began his ministry at St. James in 2006. He and his wife, Betsy Teigland, were married in 1986. They have two adult children in their 20s, Ingrid and Soren. Peter and Betsy's second child, Stefan, died in infancy (1991).
Previously Peter served at Our Redeemer’s in Hancock, MN; Eidsvold-Bethlehem Parish in Bay City, WI; Galilean in Clear Lake, IA; and Bethel in Madison, WI. His seminary internship was in Mbabane, Swaziland. Betsy works at the Global Health Institute at UW - Madison.
Peter is a graduate of St. Olaf College, Luther Seminary, and UW-Stout (MS — Marriage & Family Therapy).
He enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing tennis and guitar, teaching the Enneagram, and singing in the Madison Chamber Choir. Peter is delighted to serve at St. James.

Michelle has been been a member of St. James since 1997 and began her work at St. James in September 2007. She and her husband, John, have two children, Emelia and Mary Kate.
Susan Zimmer, Office Assisant
Sue is a former English & speech teacher and retired home health care administrator. She and her husband Greg have lived in Verona for over 43 years and raised there three kids here. Katie now lives in Illinois and has three children; Dan lives in St John, FL and has two children and three foster children; and Nicholas lives in Ponte Vedre Beach, FL, and has one child and a step child. Sue and Greg also have a small dog Zeke, who also brings a lot of joy to their life.
Heather Pearl, Director, St. James Preschool

Heather is the Director of St. James Preschool and was hired in December 2013. Heather has a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading from Butler University. She has experience teaching at the preschool, elementary and middle school levels.
Heather and her husband, Steve, originated from Illinois and they have three boys; Zach, Lucas, and Benn. In her free time she enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with family.

Cindi has been a member of St. James since 2011 and became the Director of Youth Ministry in 2019. She has several years of experience with St. James youth as a volunteer for Youth Group and Sunday School. As a former nurse and small-business owner, she brings a variety of other experiences as well. Cindi and her husband, Jason, are raising three children in Verona; Blake, Jackson and Trinity. Currently having one in high school, one in middle school, and one in elementary school.
Paulette Spoon, Director of Music
Paulette has been active at St. James since joining the congregation in February of 1996. Paulette works for the Verona Area School District as a physical therapist. Paulette and her husband, Ed, have two children, Emma and Evan.
Alex Ford, Organist
Alex is the primary organist at our traditional worship services in addition to playing for funerals and weddings.
Rhonda Chalone, Pianist
Rhonda serves as a pianist for the non-traditional worship services.
Jim Erickson, Pianist
Jim Erickson is a lifelong Lutheran church musician, and well-known local professional jazz and classical pianist. His musical travels have taken him throughout the USA and overseas. Jim was a 2011 Grand Prize winner in the Ibla International Music Competition held at Ibla-Ragusa, Italy. With other grand prize winners, Jim toured the USA including New York University and Carnegie Hall in the Spring of 2012.
Barbara Rasmussen, R.N., Parish Nurse

Barb joined St. James as a staff member in July 2013 and oversees home visitations to homebound members, bereavement ministries and works alongside the Caring Ministry Team. Barb received her nursing degree in 1977 and attended the University of Illinois majoring in Health Education and Safety Studies. She worked at the University of Wisconsin Pediatric Specialty Clinic and since retirement has been very involved with many activities at St. James as well as throughout the community.
Barb has three married children: Kirsten in Illinois, Eric in California, and Jason in Indiana and eight wonderful grandchildren. Her interests include reading, hiking, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
