Sunday School

St. James Sunday School

Begins September 17, 2017

St. James is blessed to have a great Sunday School program! St. James is committed to sharing the Good Word and teaching about Jesus’ love. Parents and youth can learn together and from one another. This year the Pre-K through 4th grade curriculum will be Spark Lectionary. Spark Lectionary offers a Bible-centered curriculum with specially designed age-appropriate materials. The lessons in this curriculum correspond to the Revised Common Lectionary, which are the Bible readings we follow in worship. Parents and youth will be able to connect what they heard and learned in Sunday School and during the worship service. Since Sunday School is only one hour of the week, it is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to take the lessons learned outside of the church building and continue in conversation throughout the week.

Again this year, the 5th and 6th grade classes will use a curriculum that is designed especially for “tweens.” CONNECT takes tweens on a journey through the Old Testament and into the New Testament, exploring the connections between several stories each week. The age-appropriate curriculum incorporates funny video clips with solid Lutheran theology. CONNECT grows with preteens, helping them make sense of the Bible, and encouraging them to ask questions, make connections, and reflect.
